Happy Friday everyone! Just a quick post to share some additional vacation trip pictures. We were ambitious and tackled 3 parks in 1 day - Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom. It was totally doable since it was a weekday and kids in the area were still in school. My advice to anyone going to Disney World is to bring your own food and drinks - it saves a lot of money since the food in the park is so expensive and you can save time by eating while waiting in line!

Weekend Freeze :: Faux Fur & Hot Pink

Happy Friday!

Oh boy is it cold today, and snowing too! And here we thought spring was in the horizon. Luckily I didn’t put away my furry hat yet, on days like this I like to keep my head warm.
Many of you have asked me where we are going on our vacation. We are heading South to visit family and to attend a wedding, so we are splitting our time between GA and FL. Can't wait to share packing tips as well as beautiful scenic photos with you ladies soon. We are all packed and ready to go, March 3rd can't come soon enough!

Spring Fever

Having Spring Fever in February is completely normal, especially when it has been such a warm winter. While I am stocking up on spring dresses, sandals and shorts in preparation for our upcoming trip to GA/FL, I am still wearing my colored jeans nonstop!

Still a big trend this year - colored jeans is a great way to get a little taste of spring even if it is technically winter. The rainbow of colors are spot on for spring and are oh so transitional!

Pair them with your favorite chunky sweater/fur embellishments and boots now. Then transition them into spring with tanks and sandals. This Spring they are also coming in a range of neon colors as well - so much fun!

Bright Bold Pants
Hi everyone!
One trend that I am currently loving this season is the bold, bright pants - they are fun and refreshing. Especially for a season that's normally known for its moody grays and blacks.
Colored pants can seem intimidating because most people just assume it won't go with anything, but that's not the case. If anything they are a great investment because they make such a statement that the rest of the outfit can be pretty simple.
One way to wear colored pants subtly is to control the amount of color being exposed. Here I paired the hot pink pants with a long gray sweater. This balances out the color scheme as well as the silhouette of the outfit. Colored pants comes in many different styles so you'll surely find a hot hue that suits you.
Tips on wearing colored pants:
1. Pick a Color - Choose a color that you like because most likely if you don't even like the color you won't wear it. Don't be afraid to be a rebel with a cause and choose whatever tickles your fancy.
2. Choose your style - Pick a style that works for you and that you feel comfortable wearing. Don't get all crazy with different cuts and design just because of the color.
3. Experiment, Experiment - Try it on with different items from your closet. Don't be afraid to pair your colorful pants with an equally bright top. But if you haven't worked up that kind of courage, then keep the top neutral. A crisp white button down also makes for an always-classic look.

Tangarine & Chambray
This tangerine skirt was the perfect pop of color to a gloomy day. And again I am wearing Hubby's chambray shirt - I should seriously think about getting one of my own!
Although chambray appears similar to denim, it is actually a much lighter fabric and stems from Cambria in France back in the 16th century . As it is a less coarse fabric, it's a lot more versatile than denim and is more comfortable and less abrasive.
This faithful fabric has been used for years to make men's work shirts but has since than gone from rugged to refined. To give it a more feminine look, I paired it with this skirt to give it a dash of color and a clean-line silhouette to tone down the toughness of the shirt.
There is a sincerity and lasting quality about chambray that makes it so interesting. I love that it is not masculine or feminine which allows me to pair it with different textures and silhouettes without having any limitations. I've also noticed that it is a fabric that can be washed and will age and become softer in time which makes it such a keeper.

Hello 2012!
Happy New Year everyone!
I’m pretty lucky. The weather in Boston has been so beautiful. So far, I’ve only had to bring out my Northface jacket a couple of times. Thank you for continuing to join in with me as I blog my way through 2012! And to start off the New Year - what better way than to color-block!
When I purchased this orange swing jacket and hot pink pants, I knew I wanted to wear them together. So when I got home, I immediately grabbed Hubby's chambray shirt to do a pairing. I really like how it turned out! For a look back at the colorblocking wheel and my research on how to pair colors together click HERE.
In terms of resolutions for the new year I've only had one since 2008, which was to finish law school. Now that 2012 is here I am happy to say that this resolution will be completed in 4 months, finally!
Thank you for being on this journey with me! Wishing everyone endless happiness, success, and love in 2012 and beyond.

Silver and Studs
I don't know what it is about Fridays - I am always bursting with happiness because the weekend is here but it doesn't tend to show in my clothes. Today is one of those monochromatic days again with black and gray - I didn't even look for anything colorful to add to it. I've had a tough week...
I love dark-metal piece jewelries, I always feel rocker-chic wearing them. I paired these jewelries with my lace skirt to juxtapose the rocker and romantic look. I was going to save this outfit for a formal event tonight but feared that the studded-belt and metal jewelries will give it too much of a heavy-metal feel.
I want to dedicate this post to my newly acquired blog friend Erica from The Pretty Factor. Yesterday Erica extended the Liebster Award to me. This award is given to blogs that have less than 200 followers as a means of getting connected to other bloggers and their followers. I was ecstatic to receive this. In all honesty I am amazed with the friendship that I've made since starting this blog a little more than a month ago and truly feel bless to be accepted as part of this community. I want to share a cool fact between Erica and I with you ladies - we both started our blog on the same day AND it was a birthday post. See HERS and MINES. Isn't that bizarre? In any case I would like to truly thank her for extending this award to me and to all of you ladies who take the time to visit my blog on a daily basis and leave such sweet and inspiring comments. Thank you so much and I hope you ladies have a great and relaxing weekend!

Patterns and Ruffles
I fell in love with this pattern from H&M when I saw it on one of their Spring collection shift dress. At the time the dress was a little too pricey for me therefore I didn't purchase it. I didn't know they had the same pattern on a top until I saw this one on the clearance rack. Before trying it on I was afraid that the top would be too short and show my mid-section. As a short petite I tend to wear shorter length skirts to give the illusion of longer legs so to pair it with a short top would be a big mistake.
In any case the top worked out well. I paired it with a black skirt and beige wedges so that the focus will be on the colorful top. I also kept my jewelry simple. As you can see I was even experimenting during the photo session. In the first picture I tried it on with a long necklace but didn't really like how it hung so I took it off. I like it better with just dangling earrings and a single bangle. You can probably tell by now that I tend to be a minimalistic when it comes to accessories.
I still really like the pattern and color of this top but am in a dilemma. Last week I found the shift dress on sale in my size! So I bought it. The question is, would it make sense to keep both the top and dress in the same print? Something to ponder about this weekend...

The Scarf
Today I want to focus on my dearly beloved scarf. Truth be told I was never a fan of scarves. I used to think that scarves are worn by older women as a means of protecting their hair from the wind or to warm their necks. This was my mother and mother-in-law's generation where scarves were more a practical tool rather than a fashion item. Today, with the expansion of a variety of different fabrics, colors and style to choose from, the scarf of old has become more sophisticated and a stable in many womens' wardrobe.
After a week of color-blocking and geometric pattern outfits, I was all colored out and decided to stick with a monochromatic outfit of gray and black. To add some spice to an otherwise boring outfit I paired it with my leopard print scarf. Animal print items are so trendy this season, they're fun, colorful and really adds a chic factor to any outfit. This scarf is a chiffon-like material so it's lightweight and comfy.
Depending on the fabric and color that you choose, a scarf can really add a special touch to any outfit. Make sure you take into consideration the color and texture of the scarf before making a purchase - does your eyes sparkle and your hair complement the hues in the scarf - let the color of the scarf bring out your best look. I am on a mission this weekend to search for one. Below are some that I am considering:
Mustard Pashmina - cashmere blended and very soft and warm
Mustard Flower Print - beautiful flower pattern
Sequined Mustard Scarf - sequin and mustard, what could be better!
Any suggestions from you ladies on where to find a Mustard scarf would be greatly appreciated as well. Have a great weekend!
