  Dress & Bag :: H&M (similar here & here)
Cardigan :: Zara (similar here)
Shoes :: Aldo Calcagni (buy here)
Watch :: DKNY (similar here
Chain Bracelet :: c/o Pinkbarry
Bow Bracelet :: eBay (similar here)

Now that Spring is here in full force I wanted to play around with color blocking again, whether it's winter or summer, a mixture of color always brightens my mood. Color blocking is an awesome way to spice up your dressing sense with your existing wardrobe.You really don't have to worry about the whole "what's going on with what" as long as you are clear with the basics. And of course, be mindful of the color wheel and what colors should go with what. See my color wheel post HERE to refresh your memory.

Some do-no-wrong choices are red, purple and coral. Here I tried to break up the brightness of the coral and purple with a neutral cardigan and wedges. This trend is all about re-evaluating how you wear colors and at the same time have fun with breaking the rules of matching. Mixing simple colors can easily help you style and accessorize an editorial-worthy look in mere seconds. Have fun experimenting ladies and bring on the color this Spring!

Faux Leather Leggings + Chicnova.com Giveaway Winner

Sunnies :: Arden B (old)(similar here)
 Jacket, Top, Bag :: H&M (similar here, here, here)
Leggings :: Chicnova.com (buy here)
Shoes :: Zara.com (similar here)

A staple in my closet as of late are a pair of leather leggings. I love the contrast a pair of faux leather leggings provide especially when paired with ultra feminine pieces. They add the perfect dose of edge to a basic outfit while at the same time keeping it modern and fashion forward. That's why when Chicnova.com approached me to review some of their items I immediately went for 3 pairs of faux leggings in different designs. What I like most about these leggings is that they are very easy to work into your existing wardrobe.When it comes to wearing faux leather, less is definitely more.

For an evening look - stick with traditional black pumps or peep toes and a ladylike clutch. Neutral or black work best with dark leather leggings because the toned-down color scheme keeps your silhouette slim and streamlined.

For a daytime look - faux leggings are not only stylish they are also comfortable and therefore are perfect for running errands. Try pairing them with a chambray top with a pair of flats for warmer weathers or booties and a scarf for those colder days.

Thank you to all that entered my Chicnova.com giveaway. I really appreciate the support and hope to continue to bring you more giveaways and great reviews. And now without further ado the winner is: Lisa Ng! Congrats Lisa, Chicnova.com will be sending you your coupon code momentarily.

Postcards from DC | Cherry Blossoms

 This trip was beyond dreamy - I've been wanting to see cherry blossoms for the last 4 years but Finals always got in the way. The weather was perfect, the setting was impeccable in every way and most importantly our family was able to stay together amidst everything that has been going on in Boston.

It's important to know a good thing when you have it; I certainly relished every second of this trip. Thanks for stopping by and please keep Boston in your heart! #prayforboston

Photos taken in Washington DC near the Jefferson Memorial and Tidal Basin. Wearing: H&M blouse and crossbody bag, Juicy Couture and Arden B sunglasses (I switched out to the Arden B ones because it was too sunny), DKNY watch, Pinkbarry bracelets.

Going Edgy with Tweed

Sunnies :: Arden B (old)(similar here)
 Jacket, Top, Jeans, Shoes :: Zara (similar here, here, here, here)
Bag :: American Apparel Clutch (buy here)

Tweed is definitely having a moment this Spring and we can't get enough. Known as a high quality fabric with a rich ancestry, tweed received a modern revamp in the 1950's by Coco Chanel thereby making it a must-have fashion investment. From jackets to shorts, tweed is popping up everywhere. Worn the right way, I believe tweed can be sophisticated and fun at the same time. That being said, tweed can easily become unflattering so make sure to find pieces that work for your body. An easy way to make sure you don't end up looking frumpy is by wearing tweed pieces in edgier cuts, like a moto jacket as I've done here. To balance out the outfit I paired it with casual ripped jeans and high Mary Janes to give it an edgier look. The best part about fashion is experimenting. Whether it's a tweed skirt, pant or jacket, they will look amazing with pretty much anything. You just have to find the right fit and style for you. Have fun with it!

Spring Look :: The Harem Pants

Sunnies :: Arden B
Top :: H&M
Cape, Pants, Booties :: Zara
Bag :: eBay

Harem pants - the baggy, slouchy trousers tapered at the ankles that conjure images of  MC Hammer. Harem pants might be the season's trickiest trend, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a try. Don’t feel pressured to sport the full-fledged “harem” look, you can opt for a soft, loose fitting trousers where the waistline sits around your waist or slouch lower around your hips. Here I balanced out the silhouette with a top in a solid color and heels to lengthen the look. I paired the outfit with a Zara cape but it would also look great with a cropped jacket to show off your figure. When wearing these pants, just be sure to keep the rest of your outfit simple; you don’t want to over accessorize and look like a genie :) I love my Zara harem trousers, they are comfortable yet still edgy - they are a fashionista's version of sweatpants!

Ladies - what are your thoughts on harem pants?
