Disney Concert Hall :: Asymmetric Top + Abstract Heels

 Top :: H&M (splurge here)
  Shorts :: H&M (similar here)
Sandals :: Fergie Torcha (here)
Clutch :: American Apparel (similar here)
Belt :: Express (similar here)

Walt Disney Concert Hall became a Los Angeles icon the moment it opened its doors to the public in 2003. The concert hall was designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Frank Gehr and what a majestic piece of architecture it is. The building looks like a piece of music in mid-flow and since the exterior is silver it reflects blue from the sky so much so that you can't tell where the building ends and the sky starts. In keeping with this timeless structure I wanted to create an equally timeless pairing that is both comfortable and chic. The asymmetric top paired with these skirt-like shorts gives this overall outfit a relaxed look. I greatly appreciate the minimalistic look of these abstract heels. It's clean, simple and surprisingly comfortable and really adds another dimension to this outfit. Asymmetric dresses and tops are great ways to add an arty vibe to your outfit, they can be worn over skinny jeans and leggings and can often be a great way to camouflage a tummy. Most definitely a girl's best friend for those all-you-can-eat buffet sessions!

Lovely Lace with Chicnova.com

Shorts :: c/o Chicnova.com (here)
  Top :: Rampage (old)
Heels :: Steve Madden (here)
Clutch :: American Apparel (here)
Earrings :: c/o Anjolee.com (here) [more info tomorrow]

Lace has already been seen in directional collections in various permutations and it is high time the lace look translated across to denim. The antique associations of lace and lace looks clash with the informal, relaxed qualities of denim to add a touch of vintage femme.

I love the look of these Chicnova.com crochet lace flower shorts, the intermix of ubiquitous denim cut off and lace gives such a romantic 70's summer feel. Check out Chicnova.com today for more lace/denim combinations.

Going Edgy with Tweed

Sunnies :: Arden B (old)(similar here)
 Jacket, Top, Jeans, Shoes :: Zara (similar here, here, here, here)
Bag :: American Apparel Clutch (buy here)

Tweed is definitely having a moment this Spring and we can't get enough. Known as a high quality fabric with a rich ancestry, tweed received a modern revamp in the 1950's by Coco Chanel thereby making it a must-have fashion investment. From jackets to shorts, tweed is popping up everywhere. Worn the right way, I believe tweed can be sophisticated and fun at the same time. That being said, tweed can easily become unflattering so make sure to find pieces that work for your body. An easy way to make sure you don't end up looking frumpy is by wearing tweed pieces in edgier cuts, like a moto jacket as I've done here. To balance out the outfit I paired it with casual ripped jeans and high Mary Janes to give it an edgier look. The best part about fashion is experimenting. Whether it's a tweed skirt, pant or jacket, they will look amazing with pretty much anything. You just have to find the right fit and style for you. Have fun with it!
