Tangarine & Chambray

Bonjour à tous!
This tangerine skirt was the perfect pop of color to a gloomy day. And again I am wearing Hubby's chambray shirt - I should seriously think about getting one of my own!
Although chambray appears similar to denim, it is actually a much lighter fabric and stems from Cambria in France back in the 16th century. As it is a less coarse fabric, it's a lot more versatile than denim and is more  comfortable and less abrasive.
This faithful fabric has been used for years to make men's work shirts but has since than gone from rugged to refined. To give it a more feminine look, I paired it with this skirt to give it a dash of color and a clean-line silhouette to tone down the toughness of the shirt.
There is a sincerity and lasting quality about chambray that makes it so interesting. I love that it is not masculine or feminine which allows me to pair it with different textures and silhouettes without having any limitations. I've also noticed that it is a fabric that can be washed and will age and become softer in time which makes it such a keeper.

  22. loooving your tangerine skirt, so perfect to brighten up winter weather! i know what you mean about chambray shirts, i've never had one, nor even tried one on, but i've been seeing a fair bit of them lately & i'm totally tempted! i love how you've paired it with something very feminine. If i find one, i'd love to do the same - i think the light blue would look awesome with a marilyn monroe red lip :)
