Happy Friday everyone!
More interesting than a belt, and easier to wear as it creates the illusion of curves while disguising troublesome tummy issues, the peplum is back! Peplums are overskirts, ruffles or flares at the waistline of a jacket, blouse, dress or skirt.
Peplums are a fantastic way to work in a retro, feminine touch, while still coming across as festive when pulling together a day or night look. Whether you opt for a peplum-accented jacket, a peplum skirt, or a peplum embellished dress - it adds a wonderfully flirty touch to any ensemble.
Because the peplum style puts a lot of emphasis on the hip area, a waist-cincher is a must for me. If the peplum silhouette makes you shy, consider a dark monochromatic style for a subtle but still fabulous look. I recommend adding at least one peplum item to your suitcase for when you travel as it may be the best way to look fashion-forward and indulge in your favorite food and beverages while on vacation =)
Note: Sorry for being MIA on the blogsphere - my life has been crazier than usual if you can believe that! I will be visiting your blog this weekend, don't you worry =)

ReplyDeleteThe polka dot print is so cute and fun! The peplum shape is so interesting, I think they look really stylish on skirts/dresses but seem to be tricky to carry off. I like your suggestions for peplum tops or dark pieces :)
ReplyDeleteI adore and love your style :) I would go through your old posts just to see what you wore :D I think now the polka dot is coming back and I am so excited. I never thought a peplum top would be useful...:D I need one or two now. definitely need to conceal the tummy ;)

ReplyDeleteGreat and different ideas!
ReplyDeleteHahaha. I KNEW this was going to happen. I was incredulous ever since this trend appeared on blogs everywhere. And yet, I knew someone was going to create an outfit that I love and would get me behind this trend. And... you're the winner. I think it's the cinched waist that did it for me.
ReplyDeleteGreat tips and the print of your top is so cute! Love how you styled it to flatter you perfectly!
ReplyDeletethe dotted shirt is simply amazing :D
ReplyDeleteI love the peplum trend. I have a few items that create a natural waist flare where none actually exists on me. I think you did a great job highlighting with the belt. I also dig the shorts!
ReplyDeletenice hair. Ive been so whacked out ive been missing a lot of posts. love the shirt
