Plaid is everywhere this fall. It reminds me of my BU days wearing flannels to class. There's nothing cuter and cozier than a guy or girl in checks.
The preppy look is borrowed from the preparatory school culture, and can be thought of as the proper and well-mannered trend. This does not mean that you have to behave in a certain way when sporting this trend; the look simply exudes properness.
Geek chic is definitely the right way to go with plaid - so today I wanted to embrace my inner nerd :) I love how it's such a casual look and so easy to pull together. The key is to keep the rest of your outfit simple and let the plaids take the spotlight.
Don't be afraid to put your own personal stamp on this preppy style by wearing your favorite accessories, whether they're preppy or not. It will help to soften the clean, hard lines, and make your look come off more natural and personal. Here I am wearing my favorite chunky infinity scarf which I hand-knitted myself.
The preppy look advocates for simplicity on a number of levels, and the make-up worn with the look should also be simple. Or in my case none at all.
I am so glad today is Friday. Can't wait until work ends so I can go home and crash. My goal this weekend is to sleep. Finals are 3 weeks away and I need to save up my energy for it. Hope you ladies have a relaxing weekend as well!

ReplyDeleteYour profile intro says you have two kids..that is incredible, you're a posh mom!
I love that scarf, you did a beautiful job knitting it! It seriously looks store bought! Love your preparatory yet edgy outfit, the socks are cute :)
ReplyDeleteLove this look! Oh the good ol' school days. Not sure why the kids complain about their uniforms, the look is quite nerdy chic ;) LOVE the scarf! Wish I was able to knit one for myself, too!
ReplyDeleteThis looks adorable. The boots were a great choice, especially with the little socks poking out. And the scarf is lovely. It's academic without being to 'school girl'.
ReplyDeletePreppy is as preppy does! Looking cute!! You actually knitted that scarf yourself??? Wow! :)

Thu, your knitting is fantabulous! I cannot knit for the life of me, so I just sew and, sometimes, crochet-- not as good as knitted though! I also really love how you wear checks! I have a preppy skirt that i would love to wear all the time, but it looks so age-inappropriate when I do. Ok, it looks like I'm going a-whoring. hahaha. Yours looks so chic!
